FIRE	Extremely flammable.	NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.	Alcohol-resistant foam. Dry powder. Carbon dioxide. NO water.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE		AVOID ALL CONTACT!
•INHALATION	Burning sensation. Cough. Laboured breathing. Shortness of breath. Sore throat. Symptoms may be delayed (see Notes).	Local exhaust or breathing protection.	Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Refer for medical attention.
•SKIN	Redness. Pain. Skin burns.	Protective gloves. Protective clothing.	Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
•EYES	Pain. Redness. Severe deep burns.	Safety goggles or eye protection in combination with breathing protection. Face shield .	First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION	Abdominal pain. Burning sensation. Shock or collapse.	Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.	Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer for medical attention.

Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Remove all ignition sources. Collect leaking liquid in sealable containers. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT wash away into sewer.

Fireproof. Ventilation along the floor. Cool. Dry. Store in an area without drain or sewer access.

On contact with hot surfaces or flames this substance decomposes forming toxic and corrosive fumes including hydrogen chloride andphosgene. The substance decomposes on contact with bases , forming flammable/explosive gas (hydrogen - see ICSC0001) . Reacts violently with oxidants. Reacts violently with water to produce hydrogen chloride (see ICSC0163) . Reacts in the presence of potassium permanganate, lead(II) oxide, copper oxide or silver oxide , causing fire and explosion hazard. Attacks many metals in presence of water.

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached very quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance is corrosive to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Corrosive on ingestion. Inhalation of may cause lung oedema (see Notes). The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated. See Notes.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Lungs may be affected by repeated or prolonged exposure. The substance may have effects on the lungs , resulting in chronic bronchitis. See Notes.

N O T E S

The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation is therefore essential. Immediate administration of an appropriate inhalation therapy by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered. Toxicology of this substance is based on Hydrogen chloride See ICSC0163.
